A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Key Focus KF Web Server 1.0.8 (Web Server). This issue affects an unknown code of the component MIME Type Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in KeyFocus web server 1.0.8 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files for recognized MIME type files via "...", "....", ".....", and other multiple dot sequences.
The weakness was published 12/31/2002 by mattmurphy (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-2403 since 11/01/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
