Details
A vulnerability was found in protobufjs up to 6.11.2 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The package protobufjs before 6.11.3 are vulnerable to Prototype Pollution which can allow an attacker to add/modify properties of the Object.prototype. This vulnerability can occur in multiple ways: 1. by providing untrusted user input to util.setProperty or to ReflectionObject.setParsedOption functions 2. by parsing/loading .proto files
The weakness was released 05/28/2022. The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2022-25878 since 02/24/2022. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.
