A vulnerability was found in MIT Kerberos 5-1.2.1/5-1.2.2/5-1.2.3/5-1.2.4 (Network Authentication Software). It has been rated as critical. Format string vulnerabilities in the logging routines for MIT Kerberos V5 Key Distribution Center (KDC) before 1.2.5 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via format string specifiers in Kerberos principal names.
The bug was discovered 01/28/2003. The weakness was released 01/28/2003 by E. Larry Lidz as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org.
