A vulnerability has been found in Ethereal up to 0.9.9 (Packet Analyzer Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file packet-socks.c of the component SOCKS Dissector. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a format string vulnerability. Format string vulnerability in packet-socks.c of the SOCKS dissector for Ethereal 0.8.7 through 0.9.9 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via SOCKS packets containing format string specifiers.
