A vulnerability was found in IBM Lotus Domino up to 5.0.10 (Groupware Software). It has been declared as critical. Buffer overflow in Notes server before Lotus Notes R4, R5 before 5.0.11, and early R6 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long distinguished name (DN) during NotesRPC authentication and an outer field length that is less than that of the DN field.
The weakness was presented 03/18/2003 with Rapid7 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2003-0122. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Upgrading to version 5.0.11 eliminates this vulnerability.
