A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Cooolsoft Personal FTP Server 2.24 (File Transfer Software). This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Command Handler. The manipulation of the argument ls/mkdir/put/get with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in CooolSoft Personal FTP Server 2.24 allows remote attackers to read or modify arbitrary files via .. (dot dot) sequences in the commands (1) LIST (ls), (2) mkdir, (3) put, or (4) get.
