A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Mozilla Bonsai 1.3 (Web Browser). This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the file cvslog.cgi/cvsblame.cgi/cvsquery.cgi/showcheckins.cgi/cvsqueryform.cgi. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting vulnerabilities (XSS) in bonsai Mozilla CVS query tool allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary web script via (1) the file, root, or rev parameters to cvslog.cgi, (2) the file or root parameters to cvsblame.cgi, (3) various parameters to cvsquery.cgi, (4) the person parameter to showcheckins.cgi, (5) the module parameter to cvsqueryform.cgi, and (6) possibly other attack vectors as identified by Mozilla bug #146244.
The weakness was shared 04/02/2003 by Stan Bubrouski (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-0154 since 03/19/2003. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
