Eclipse Jetty HTTP/2 Server resource pool

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Eclipse Jetty (affected version unknown) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the component HTTP2 Server. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a resource pool vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-410. The product's resource pool is not large enough to handle peak demand, which allows an attacker to prevent others from accessing the resource by using a (relatively) large number of requests for resources. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:

In Eclipse Jetty HTTP/2 server implementation, when encountering an invalid HTTP/2 request, the error handling has a bug that can wind up not properly cleaning up the active connections and associated resources. This can lead to a Denial of Service scenario where there are no enough resources left to process good requests.

The weakness was released 07/08/2022 as GHSA-wgmr-mf83-7x4j. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2022-2048 since 06/09/2022. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 241484 (TencentOS Server 4: jetty (TSSA-2025:0390)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
