A vulnerability classified as critical was found in idayrus evoting. This vulnerability affects the function send_file. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. The idayrus/evoting repository before 2022-05-08 on GitHub allows absolute path traversal because the Flask send_file function is used unsafely.
