This affects some unknown functionality of the file sc_serv.log of the component GET Request Handler. SHOUTcast 1.8.9 and earlier allows local users to obtain the cleartext administrative password via a GET request to port 8001, which causes the password to be logged in the world-readable sc_serv.log file.

The bug was discovered 08/05/2002. The weakness was shared 04/22/2003 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at archives.neohapsis.com.
