A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Moodle (Learning Management Software) (affected version not known). This affects some unknown functionality of the component Lesson Question Import. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. The vulnerability was found in Moodle, occurs due to input validation error when importing lesson questions. This insufficient path checks results in arbitrary file read risk. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform directory traversal attacks. The capability to access this feature is only available to teachers, managers and admins by default.
