A vulnerability was found in Planka (version unknown). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file /proc/self/environ of the component Environment Variable Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. With this vulnerability an attacker can read many sensitive files like configuration files, or the /proc/self/environ file, that contains the environment variable used by the web server that includes database credentials. If the web server user is root, an attacker will be able to read any file in the system.
The weakness was shared 08/04/2022. The advisory is shared for download at huntr.dev. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2022-2653 since 08/04/2022. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
