A vulnerability was found in XMB Forum 1.8 (Forum Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file member.php/ buddy.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in XMB Forum 1.8 Partagium allow remote attackers to insert arbitrary script via (1) the member parameter to member.php or (2) the action parameter to buddy.php.
The bug was discovered 05/22/2003. The weakness was published 08/07/2003 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2003-0483 since 06/27/2003. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
