A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in SGI IRIX (Operating System). This affects some unknown functionality of the file /etc/group. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. SGI IRIX 6.5.x through 6.5.20f, and possibly earlier versions, does not follow "-" entries in the /etc/group file, which may cause subsequent group membership entries to be processed inadvertently.
The issue has been introduced in 08/01/1998. The weakness was presented 08/18/2003 (Website). The advisory is shared at patches.sgi.com.
