A vulnerability was found in Virtual Programming VP-ASP 5.0. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file shopexd.asp. The manipulation of the argument id with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in shopexd.asp for VP-ASP allows remote attackers to gain administrator privileges via the id parameter.
The weakness was presented 08/18/2003 by AresU as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2003-0560 since 07/14/2003. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
A public exploit has been developed in Perl. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:shopexd.asp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 11339 (Virtual Programming VP-ASP shopexd.asp SQL Injection Vulnerability).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 2244.
