A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Binutils up to 2.3.x (Programming Tool Software). Affected by this issue is the function bfd_getl32 of the component File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a heap-based overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-122. In GNU Binutils before 2.4.0, there is a heap-buffer-overflow in the error function bfd_getl32 when called from the strip_main function in strip-new via a crafted file.
