A vulnerability has been found in Apple QuickTime and Darwin Streaming Server up to 4.1.3e (Multimedia Player Software) and classified as very critical. The installation of Apple QuickTime / Darwin Streaming Server before 4.1.3f starts the administration server with a "Setup Assistant" page that allows remote attackers to set the administrator password and gain privileges before the real administrator.

The weakness was published 08/27/2003 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at rapid7.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-0426 since 06/11/2003. The exploitation appears to be easy.
