PostgreSQL Non-Temporary Object sql injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Summaryinfo

A vulnerability classified as critical was found in PostgreSQL. This impacts an unknown function of the component Non-Temporary Object Handler. Executing a manipulation can lead to sql injection. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2022-1552. The attack may be launched remotely. There is no exploit available. Upgrading the affected component is advised.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in PostgreSQL (Database Software) (version unknown) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component Non-Temporary Object Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

A flaw was found in PostgreSQL. There is an issue with incomplete efforts to operate safely when a privileged user is maintaining another user's objects. The Autovacuum, REINDEX, CREATE INDEX, REFRESH MATERIALIZED VIEW, CLUSTER, and pg_amcheck commands activated relevant protections too late or not at all during the process. This flaw allows an attacker with permission to create non-temporary objects in at least one schema to execute arbitrary SQL functions under a superuser identity.

The weakness was shared 08/31/2022. The advisory is available at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2022-1552 since 05/02/2022. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1505 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 213339 (Oracle Linux 7 : postgresql (ELSA-2024-10882)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at postgresql.org.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (213339) and EUVD (EUVD-2022-24847). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
