Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in KisMAC 0.05d. This affects some unknown processing. The manipulation of the argument DRIVER_KEXT as part of a Environment Variable leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
KisMAC before 0.05d trusts user-supplied variables to load arbitrary kernels or kernel modules, which allows local users to gain privileges via the $DRIVER_KEXT environment variable as used in (1) viha_driver.sh, (2) macjack_load.sh, or (3) airojack_load.sh, or (4) via "similar techniques" using exchangeKernel.sh.
The weakness was disclosed 09/17/2003 (Website). The advisory is shared at atstake.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2003-0703 since 08/24/2003.
