Details
A vulnerability was found in University of Washington Pine up to 4.56. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function rfc2231_get_param of the file strings.c of the component Array Access. The manipulation with the input value -1 leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Integer signedness error in rfc2231_get_param from strings.c in PINE before 4.58 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an email that causes an out-of-bounds array access using a negative number.
The bug was discovered 09/10/2003. The weakness was presented 09/17/2003 by zen-parse (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at redhat.com.
