Details
A vulnerability was found in TYPO3 up to 7.6.57/8.7.47/9.5.36/10.4.31/11.5.15 (Content Management System). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is an unknown function of the component User Authentication. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information exposure vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-203. The product behaves differently or sends different responses under different circumstances in a way that is observable to an unauthorized actor, which exposes security-relevant information about the state of the product, such as whether a particular operation was successful or not. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
TYPO3 is an open source PHP based web content management system released under the GNU GPL. It has been discovered that observing response time during user authentication (backend and frontend) can be used to distinguish between existing and non-existing user accounts. Extension authors of 3rd party TYPO3 extensions providing a custom authentication service should check if the extension is affected by the described problem. Affected extensions must implement new `MimicServiceInterface::mimicAuthUser`, which simulates corresponding times regular processing would usually take. Update to TYPO3 version 7.6.58 ELTS, 8.7.48 ELTS, 9.5.37 ELTS, 10.4.32 or 11.5.16 that fix this problem. There are no known workarounds for this issue.
The weakness was disclosed 09/14/2022 by Vautia as GHSA-m392-235j-9r7r / TYPO3-CORE-SA-2022-007 as confirmed security advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2022-36105 since 07/15/2022. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
Upgrading to version 7.6.58 ELTS, 8.7.48 ELTS, 9.5.37 ELTS, 10.4.32 or 11.5.16 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch f8b83ce15d4ea275a5a5e564e5d324242f7937b6 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

Once again VulDB remains the best source for vulnerability data.
The new `MimicServiceInterface::mimicAuthUser` functionality is not the problem, but actually part of the solution to mitigate timing discrepancies by "mimicking user authentication" - in order to have the same response time for existing and non-existing user accounts.
