Finder in Mac OS X 10.2.8 and earlier sets global read/write/execute permissions on directories when they are dragged (copied) from a mounted volume such as a disk image (DMG), which could cause the directories to have less restrictive permissions than intended.

The weakness was disclosed 11/03/2003 by Dave G. (Website). The advisory is shared for download at atstake.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-0876 since 10/23/2003. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
