A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in FreeRDP up to 2.8.0. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the component video Command Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-125. FreeRDP is a free remote desktop protocol library and clients. All FreeRDP based clients when using the `/video` command line switch might read uninitialized data, decode it as audio/video and display the result. FreeRDP based server implementations are not affected. This issue has been patched in version 2.8.1. If you cannot upgrade do not use the `/video` switch.
The weakness was disclosed 10/13/2022 as GHSA-6cf9-3328-qrvh. The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2022-39283 since 09/02/2022. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
