A vulnerability was found in Netegrity SiteMinder (affected version unknown). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file siteminderagent/SmMakeCookie.ccc. The manipulation of the argument TARGET with an unknown input leads to a redirect vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-601. A web application accepts a user-controlled input that specifies a link to an external site, and uses that link in a Redirect. This simplifies phishing attacks. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
siteminderagent/SmMakeCookie.ccc in Netegrity SiteMinder does not ensure that the TARGET parameter names a valid redirection resource, which allows remote attackers to construct a URL that might trick users into visiting an arbitrary web site referenced by this parameter.
The weakness was shared 05/29/2003 by David Withnall (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at curl.haxx.se. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2003-1311 since 12/15/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1204.001 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
