A vulnerability was found in HP HP-UX up to 10.34 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function lanadmin/landiag. The manipulation of the argument TERM as part of a Environment Variable leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Buffer overflow in the setupterm function of (1) lanadmin and (2) landiag programs of HP-UX 10.0 through 10.34 allows local users to execute arbitrary code via a long TERM environment variable.
