A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in php-Board 1.0 (Forum Software). This affects some unknown processing of the file login.php. The manipulation of the argument $username.txt with an unknown input leads to a credentials management vulnerability (Password). CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-255. login.php in php-Board 1.0 stores plaintext passwords in $username.txt with insufficient access control under the web document root, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via a direct request.
The weakness was released 12/31/2003 by Frog Man (Website). The advisory is shared at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2003-1401 since 10/19/2007. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a public exploit are known.
