It is recommended to upgrade the affected component.
Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Google TensorFlow up to 2.8.3/2.9.2/2.10.0 (Artificial Intelligence Software). This vulnerability affects the function tf.raw_ops.ResizeNearestNeighborGrad. The manipulation of the argument size with an unknown input leads to a buffer size vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-131. The product does not correctly calculate the size to be used when allocating a buffer, which could lead to a buffer overflow. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. When `tf.raw_ops.ResizeNearestNeighborGrad` is given a large `size` input, it overflows. We have patched the issue in GitHub commit 00c821af032ba9e5f5fa3fe14690c8d28a657624. The fix will be included in TensorFlow 2.11. We will also cherrypick this commit on TensorFlow 2.10.1, 2.9.3, and TensorFlow 2.8.4, as these are also affected and still in supported range.
The weakness was published 11/19/2022 as GHSA-368v-7v32-52fx. The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2022-41907 since 09/30/2022. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
Upgrading to version 2.8.4, 2.9.3, 2.10.1 or 2.11 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 00c821af032ba9e5f5fa3fe14690c8d28a657624 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
