Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) by creating a web page or HTML e-mail with a textarea in a div element whose scrollbar-base-color is modified by a CSS style, which is then moved.

The issue has been introduced in 08/27/2001. The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2003 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-1505 since 10/25/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1499.
