A vulnerability has been found in Moodle (Learning Management Software) (version now known) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-352. The web application does not, or can not, sufficiently verify whether a well-formed, valid, consistent request was intentionally provided by the user who submitted the request. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. CVE summarizes:
A vulnerability was found in Moodle which exists due to insufficient validation of the HTTP request origin in course redirect URL. A user's CSRF token was unnecessarily included in the URL when being redirected to a course they have just restored. A remote attacker can trick the victim to visit a specially crafted web page and perform arbitrary actions on behalf of the victim on the vulnerable website. This flaw allows an attacker to perform cross-site request forgery attacks.
The weakness was released 11/23/2022. The advisory is shared for download at git.moodle.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2022-45149 since 11/11/2022. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
