A vulnerability was found in Ondrej Jombik phpWebFileManager 0.4. It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the file plugins/file.php. Directory traversal vulnerability in plugins/file.php in phpWebFileManager before 0.4.4 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the fm_path parameter.
The weakness was released 12/31/2003 (Website). The advisory is available at platon.sk. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2003-1542 since 02/13/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. By approaching the search of inurl:plugins/file.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 11105 (phpWebFileManager File Disclosure Vulnerability).
Upgrading to version 0.4.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
