A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Nukestyles Viewpage Module 6.5 on PHP-Nuke. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the file nukestyles.com. The manipulation of the argument file with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Absolute path traversal vulnerability in nukestyles.com viewpage.php addon for PHP-Nuke allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a full pathname in the file parameter. NOTE: This was originally reported as an issue in PHP-Nuke 6.5, but this is an independent addon.
The weakness was shared 12/31/2003 by LINUX (Website). The advisory is shared at securitytracker.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2003-1545 since 02/28/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1006 for this issue.
