A vulnerability was found in Proxmox Virtual Environment and Mail Gateway (unknown version). It has been rated as critical. A response-header CRLF injection vulnerability in the Proxmox Virtual Environment (PVE) and Proxmox Mail Gateway (PMG) web interface allows a remote attacker to set cookies for a victim's browser that are longer than the server expects, causing a client-side DoS. This affects Chromium-based browsers because they allow injection of response headers with %0d. This is fixed in pve-http-server 4.1-3.
The weakness was presented 12/05/2022. The advisory is shared at starlabs.sg. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2022-35507 since 07/11/2022. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1055 for this issue.
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 936007ae0241811093155000486da171379c23c2 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.proxmox.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
