Details
A vulnerability has been found in libcURL (Network Utility Software) (affected version unknown) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the component POST Field Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
When doing HTTP(S) transfers, libcurl might erroneously use the read callback (`CURLOPT_READFUNCTION`) to ask for data to send, even when the `CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS` option has been set, if the same handle previously was used to issue a `PUT` request which used that callback. This flaw may surprise the application and cause it to misbehave and either send off the wrong data or use memory after free or similar in the subsequent `POST` request. The problem exists in the logic for a reused handle when it is changed from a PUT to a POST.
The weakness was disclosed 12/06/2022. The advisory is shared for download at hackerone.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2022-32221 since 06/01/2022. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
