The bug was discovered 04/30/2004. The weakness was disclosed 05/05/2004 by Oliver Karow (Website). The advisory is shared at oliverkarow.de. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-1990 since 05/04/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
