A vulnerability was found in HP Web Jetadmin 7.5.2546 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file setinfo.hts. The manipulation of the argument setinclude with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. Directory traversal vulnerability in setinfo.hts in HP Web Jetadmin 7.5.2546 allows remote authenticated attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the setinclude parameter.

The weakness was released 03/24/2004 by wirepair (Website). The advisory is available at marc.info. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1857 since 05/04/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
