Details
A vulnerability was found in MeterSphere up to 2.4.x. It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects the function IssueProxyResourceService::getMdImageByUrl. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-79. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. Impacted is integrity. MeterSphere is a one-stop open source continuous testing platform, covering test management, interface testing, UI testing and performance testing. Versions prior to 2.5.0 are subject to a Server-Side Request Forgery that leads to Cross-Site Scripting. A Server-Side request forgery in `IssueProxyResourceService::getMdImageByUrl` allows an attacker to access internal resources, as well as executing JavaScript code in the context of Metersphere's origin by a victim of a reflected XSS. This vulnerability has been fixed in v2.5.0. There are no known workarounds.
The weakness was presented 12/28/2022 as GHSA-vrv6-cg45-rmjj. The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2022-23544 since 01/19/2022. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 2.5.0 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch d0f95b50737c941b29d507a4cc3545f2dc6ab121 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
