A vulnerability was found in TP-LINK Archer C5 and WR710N-V1 (version unknown) and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function strcmp of the component httpd. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a timing discrepancy vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-208. Two separate operations in a product require different amounts of time to complete, in a way that is observable to an actor and reveals security-relevant information about the state of the product, such as whether a particular operation was successful or not. TP-Link routers, Archer C5 and WR710N-V1, using the latest software, the strcmp function used for checking credentials in httpd, is susceptible to a side-channel attack. By measuring the response time of the httpd process, an attacker could guess each byte of the username and password.
