Details
A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel up to 6.0-rc3 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects the function nvmet_setup_auth of the component NVMe Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability in the Linux kernel NVMe functionality, in nvmet_setup_auth(), allows an attacker to perform a Pre-Auth Denial of Service (DoS) attack on a remote machine. Affected versions v6.0-rc1 to v6.0-rc3, fixed in v6.0-rc4.
