Internet Explorer 6 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via Javascript that creates a new popup window and disables the imagetoolbar functionality with a META tag, which triggers a null dereference.

The issue has been introduced in 03/22/2001. The weakness was shared 07/07/2004 (Website). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-0479. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
