A vulnerability was found in 4D WebSTAR up to 5.3.2 and classified as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file ShellExample.cgi. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. The ShellExample.cgi script in 4D WebSTAR 5.3.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to list arbitrary directories via a URL with the desired path and a "*" (asterisk) character.
