A vulnerability was found in Catdoc 0.91. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the file msxlsview.sh of the component Temp File Handler. The manipulation as part of a word$$.html leads to a symlink vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-61. The product, when opening a file or directory, does not sufficiently account for when the file is a symbolic link that resolves to a target outside of the intended control sphere. msxlsview.sh in xlsview for catdoc 0.91 and earlier allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on predictable temporary file names ("word$$.html").
