CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

The attack may be initiated remotely. There is no available exploit. It is suggested to upgrade the affected component.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability has been found in Undici up to 5.19.0 and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a redos vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-1333. The product uses a regular expression with an inefficient, possibly exponential worst-case computational complexity that consumes excessive CPU cycles. As an impact it is known to affect availability. The summary by CVE is:

Undici is an HTTP/1.1 client for Node.js. Prior to version 5.19.1, the `Headers.set()` and `Headers.append()` methods are vulnerable to Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) attacks when untrusted values are passed into the functions. This is due to the inefficient regular expression used to normalize the values in the `headerValueNormalize()` utility function. This vulnerability was patched in v5.19.1. No known workarounds are available.

The weakness was presented 02/17/2023 as GHSA-r6ch-mqf9-qc9w. It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2023-24807 since 01/30/2023. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1449.003 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 216256 (Oracle Linux 8 : nodejs:20 (ELSA-2025-1351)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.

Upgrading to version 5.19.1 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at github.com. Applying the patch f2324e549943f0b0937b09fb1c0c16cc7c93abdf is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (216256) and CERT Bund (WID-SEC-2023-0414). Statistical analysis made it clear that VulDB provides the best quality for vulnerability data.
