NGSEC StackDefender 1.10 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (system crash) via an invalid address for the ObjectAttribues parameter to the hooks for the (1) ZwCreateFile or (2) ZwOpenFile functions.

The weakness was presented 08/18/2004 by iDefense with iDEFENSE (Website). The advisory is shared for download at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-0767 since 08/03/2004. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
