Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in ZoneMinder up to 1.36.32/1.37.32 (Video Surveillance Software). This affects some unknown functionality of the component Web Token Handler. The manipulation of the argument Username with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
ZoneMinder is a free, open source Closed-circuit television software application for Linux which supports IP, USB and Analog cameras. Versions prior to 1.36.33 and 1.37.33 contain SQL Injection via malicious jason web token. The Username field of the JWT token was trusted when performing an SQL query to load the user. If an attacker could determine the HASH key used by ZoneMinder, they could generate a malicious JWT token and use it to execute arbitrary SQL. This issue is fixed in versions 1.36.33 and 1.37.33.
The weakness was shared 02/25/2023 as GHSA-6c72-q9mw-mwx9. The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2023-26032 since 02/17/2023. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 1.36.33 or 1.37.33 eliminates this vulnerability.
