Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Goutil up to 0.5.x. Affected by this issue is the function fsutil.Unzip of the component ZIP File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Goutil is a collection of miscellaneous functionality for the go language. In versions prior to 0.6.0 when users use fsutil.Unzip to unzip zip files from a malicious attacker, they may be vulnerable to path traversal. This vulnerability is known as a ZipSlip. This issue has been fixed in version 0.6.0, users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue.
The weakness was released 03/08/2023 as GHSA-fx2v-qfhr-4chv. The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2023-27475 since 03/01/2023.
