Mozilla allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash from invalid memory access) via an "unusual combination of visual elements," including several large MARQUEE tags with large height parameters, as demonstrated by mangleme.

The bug was discovered 10/18/2004. The weakness was disclosed 10/18/2004 by Michal Zalewski (Website). The advisory is shared for download at marc.info. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1614 since 02/20/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
