Linux Kernel RDMA over Infiniband /dev/infiniband/rdma_cm ib_copy_ah_attr_to_user information disclosure

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Linux Kernel (Operating System) (affected version not known). This vulnerability affects the function ib_copy_ah_attr_to_user of the file /dev/infiniband/rdma_cm of the component RDMA over Infiniband. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's implementation of RDMA over infiniband. An attacker with a privileged local account can leak kernel stack information when issuing commands to the /dev/infiniband/rdma_cm device node. While this access is unlikely to leak sensitive user information, it can be further used to defeat existing kernel protection mechanisms.

The weakness was presented 03/28/2023. The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2021-3923 since 11/03/2021. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at git.kernel.org.
