A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in pymedusa up to 1.0.11. This affects an unknown part of the file /config/general/ of the component Web Interface. pymedusa is an automatic video library manager for TV Shows. In versions prior 1.0.12 an attacker with access to the web interface can update the git executable path in /config/general/ > advanced settings with arbitrary OS commands. An attacker may exploit this vulnerability to take execute arbitrary OS commands as the user running the pymedusa program. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.
The weakness was disclosed 03/28/2023 as GHSA-6589-x6f5-cgg9. The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2023-28627 since 03/20/2023. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 1.0.12 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 66d4be8f0872bd5ddcdc5c5a58cb014d22834a45 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
