Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, Outlook 2002, and Outlook 2003 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption), if "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is disabled, via a web site or HTML e-mail that contains two null characters (%00) after the host name.
The issue has been introduced in 08/27/2001. The weakness was presented 11/23/2004 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2004-0284. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
