A vulnerability has been found in Texas Imperial Software wftpd up to Pro 3.21 (File Transfer Software) and classified as problematic. WFTPD Pro Server 3.21 Release 1, with the XeroxDocutech option enabled, allows local users to cause a denial of service (crash) via a (1) MKD or (2) XMKD command that causes an absolute path of 260 characters to be used, which overwrites a cookie with a null character, possibly due to an off-by-one error.
The bug was discovered 02/28/2004. The weakness was disclosed 02/28/2004 by axl rose (Website). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-0342. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
